Katsina, Nigeria – The Secretary to the Government of Katsina State, through his Chief Press Secretary, Abdullahi Aliyu Yar’adua, has officially handed over two renovated hostel blocks and a reconstructed perimeter wall at the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) College of Disaster Management. The event marked a significant milestone in the state's commitment to enhancing security and disaster management infrastructure.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Yar’adua commended the efforts of Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, who promptly responded to the needs of the college after receiving complaints about the dilapidated facilities. The renovation project, carried out under the supervision of the Katsina State Ministry of Works, was described as a high-quality and timely intervention.
“We must firstly thank Almighty Allah for granting us the opportunity to complete this vital project. The renovation of the two hostel blocks and the wall fence is a testament to the government’s commitment to ensuring a conducive learning environment for the college,” Yar’adua stated.
He emphasized the dual importance of the facility, not only for the students and staff of the college but also for the state government, which uses the center for training personnel in various security-related programs. “This facility is considered a critical asset of the state government, and every effort will be made to maintain its functionality and usefulness,” he added.
The Ministry of Works, which conducted the renovations through direct labor, was praised for its technical expertise and dedication to completing the project. Yar’adua also acknowledged the college's role in contributing to national security through its training programs.
On behalf of the Secretary to the Government of the State, Abdullahi Garba Faskari, Yar’adua reiterated the government’s commitment to sustaining the facility and addressing future needs. “The state government will continue to support this college as it plays a vital role in training future security personnel and disaster managers,” he said.
In his remarks, the Commandant of the NSCDC College, Bashir Ilyasu Saulawa, expressed gratitude to the state government for the timely intervention. He assured that the facilities would be used judiciously to benefit future trainees and enhance the college’s capacity for disaster management education.
